Stephen Bridges is Principal and Actuary of Bridges UK Actuarial Services Ltd and has over 40 years experience in the financial services industry. After graduating with a 1st Class Honours degree in Physics he studied to become an actuary, qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 1976.

Starting his career at Legal & General he moved first to Willis Faber and later to Noble Lowndes, both pensions and actuarial consultancies, before joining Sun Life where he became Finance and Technical Director of their direct sales life and pensions operation. After 11 years there he joined the Board of Jardine Reeves Brown, now the employee benefits arm of Jardine Lloyd Thompson, with responsibility for insured schemes, personal financial planning, group scheme administration, IT systems and FSA compliance.

Since 1999 he has run his own consultancy business, Bridges UK Actuarial Services Ltd, providing advice and services to IFAs, solicitors, private individuals, trustees and employers on all aspects of pensions, including valuations and analysis of pension transfers, pension sharing on divorce, income drawdown, pension scheme wind-ups, buy-outs, personal pensions, SIPPs, SSASs and Group schemes.
